Siraj calls for honourable return of IDPs

LANDI KOTAL: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has demanded of the federal government to arrange for honourable repatriation of all the families displaced from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas before bringing any constitutional changes to the existing administrative system of tribal areas.

Addressing party workers in Shah Kas, Jamrud, the other day, he said that his party had always opposed use of force in tribal areas. He called upon the federal government to ensure atmosphere conducive to the return of all internally displaced persons (IDPs) and provision of adequate compensation to the affected families for the losses they had incurred during the military operations.

Senator Haq also demanded introduction of local government system in Fata and holding of local elections on party basis there. About the May 30 elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the JI chief expressed his satisfaction over the results and said that the provincial government would investigate allegations of rigging and violence in these elections.
