No cyclone threat to Pakistan
KARACHI: The tropical cyclone Ashobaa, located at around 650 kilometres southwest of Karachi, is no more a ‘risk’ to Pakistan’s coastal belt and is now moving fast to Masirah Island of Oman, said the Met office on Wednesday.
“The danger to the Pakistani coastal area is now over,” stated the Cyclone Warning Centre, Karachi, in a media advisory. It added that due to a high tidal flow, however, sea conditions were likely to remain rough along the Sindh coast and very rough along the Makran coast in Pasni, Gwadar and Jiwani.
Under the influence of the cyclone system in Arabian sea, the advisory said, isolated rain and thundershowers of moderate intensity were expected in southwest parts of Balochistan like Pasni, Gwadar, Turbat, Kech and Jiwani during the next 24 hours.
