Parrikar not to speak to media for six months

PANAJI: Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who has recently been in the limelight for his controversial statements has decided not to talk to the media for at least six months, according to a report published on the NDTV website.

Parrikar had recently made the headline when he expressed his faith in the “neutralising terrorists through terrorists only” theory.

His statements were widely condemned within and outside India.

"I will not speak much. Because if I speak, people start looking for things," NDTV quoted the Indian defence minister as saying.

He expressed these views when asked to comment on target killings in the Kashmir region and the Rafale fighter jet deal.

He categorically denied to make any sort of comment and said that he would not speak to the media for six months.

Parrikar, who is also the ex chief minister of Goa state, has been camping in the state for the last several days.

The minister also complained of media and alleged that the media illogically scrutinises his speeches in an excessive manner.
