PPP workers remember Benazir on her birthday
RAWALPINDI: The 62nd birth anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party’s late chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, was celebrated in the garrison city by more than 100 party workers at a local hotel.
PPP City Chapter arranged the event, where a cake was cut after Iftar. PPP Divisional President Imran Ashraf, City President Amir Fida Paracha and PPP Central Executive Committee Member Qazi Sultan Mehmood were among the participants.
Amir Fida Paracha informed the party workers that many members wanted to arrange a large gathering at the Liaquat Bagh to demonstrate the strength of the party, but out of respect for Ramazan, the event was organised at a hotel instead.
Speaking on the occasion, the workers paid glowing tributes to the services of the first woman prime minister of the country and muslim world and vowed to continue her mission and to bring socio-economic change in the society.
They said that Ms Bhutto wanted to make democracy in the country functional and for this cause, she accepted to join hands with Nawaz Sharif who always worked for the establishment.
The speakers said Benazir Bhutto wanted to rid the country of the menace of terrorism and promote the soft image of the country.
They said that Pakistan would have become the leader of the muslim world and asia if Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not assassinated by Ziaul Haq.
