Three roads named after renowned figures

ISLAMABAD: Three roads have been named after three distinguished figures of literature and art.

The CDA on Friday announced that after the approval of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, three roads have been named after Mansha Yad, Tufail Niazi and Shanul Haq Haqqi.

According to CDA, Service Road (East) Sector G-7 will now be called Muhammad Mansha Yad Road, Service Road (South) Sector G-9 has been named after Muhammad Tufail Niazi and Service Road (West) Sector G-9 has been named as Shanul Haq Haqqi Road.

A CDA spokesman said a notification of renaming the roads had been issued by the Cabinet Division. He said signboards carrying the new names of the roads would be installed in the coming days.

Mansha Yad (1937-2011) was a distinguished short story writer. Whereas, Tufail Niazi(1916-1990) was a renowned folk singer. Shanul Haq Haqqi (1917-2005) was a highly respected Urdu poet, lexicographer and writer. He was associated with Urdu Dictionary Board for over 15 years, compiling a monumental 24-volume dictionary.
