Foundation stone of kidney centre laid in Gujrat
GUJRAT: DCO Liaquat Ali Chatha along with local politicians and businessmen laid the foundation stone of the kidney centre here on Wednesday.
The 23-bed project would be completed within six months under the public-private partnership.
Local philanthropists and the district government have launched the joint project at the two-kanal land near Prince Chowk. The land is donated by philanthropist Begum Mehmooda Ajiz.
The project will cost Rs100 million out of which Rs50m will be spent on the construction of the building and the remaining amount will be spent on installation of the latest equipment and machinery in the hospital.
The DCO informed participants that a sum of Rs35 million had already been donated by local philanthropists, including Rs5 million, by the Red Crescent Society.
Mr Chatha said the basement and ground floor of the building would be utilized for car parking and commercial purposes, respectively, while the first and second floors for the kidney centre.
SCHEDULE: Regional Election Commissioner/Delimitation Authority, Gujranwala, Masroor Ahmed Bajaar released on Wednesday the schedule for hearing petitions challenging the delimitation process of three tehsils and municipal committees in the Gujrat district.
The petitions of 58 rural union councils in Gujrat tehsil will be heard on July 22 while petitions of the Gujrat Municipal Corporation and two municipal committees of Jalalpur Jattan and Kunjah will be heard on March 23.
The petitions from Kharian and Sara-i-Alamgir tehsils will be heard on July 24.
The local chapters of the ruling PML-N, PTI, PML-Q, PPP, JI and other parties had challenged the delimitation in Gujrat district.
The petitions will be heard at the regional election commission office in Gujranwala.
SUMMER VACATION: The administration of the University of Gujrat has announced summer vacation from July 15 to Aug 9.
However, the routine administrative offices will start working from July 22.
