QWP, PTI, JI to form district govt in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The Qaumi Watan Party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Jamaat-i-Islami on Thursday announced to form the district government in Charsadda and claimed that they had a clear majority in the tehsil and district councils.

A meeting of the three parties took place at the residence of JI leader Akbar Khan in Utmanzai, which was attended by Charsadda QWP chairman and MPA Mohammad Arshad Umarzai, PTI MPA Arif Ahmadzai, district organiser Abid Khan, JI district chief Misbahullah, general secretary Javedullah and other leaders.

Later, these leaders told mediapersons that they had formed an alliance for the greater benefit of the people of the district. They said that they would continue to strive to solve issues being faced by about 1.8 million population of this district.

They also announced that the three parties would support leading candidates of each other’s party in the re-polling of local government elections scheduled for July 30. They claimed that their candidates were leading in polls of 15 union councils of the district and they would form the tehsil and district governments.

Separately, a delegation of the tripartite alliance comprising ANP, JUI-F and PPP met the district returning officer, Charsadda, at his office on Thursday and apprised him of their concerns about July 30 re-polling. The delegation comprised ANP Charsadda president Arshad Abdullah, JUI-F chief Maulana Hashim Khan and PPP Shabqadar president Asad.
