Raid on Hyderabad BISE offices

HYDERABAD: About 25 to 30 law-enforcers in civvies and wearing balaclavas raided offices of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, on Monday in search of the board’s security officer, Nadeem Qazi, who was associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

“They went straight into his office and after not finding Qazi there they went to the office of the BISE secretary Amir Shafiq,” said a source in the board.

About half a dozen vehicles entered the board premises and some parked outside the courtyard.

“They searched for Qazi in the conduct and meeting branches and legal cell but he was not there at that time,” said the source.

The source said that the secretary was told to produce Qazi within three days or be prepared to get picked up himself. They did not go upstairs to any other office or the office of BISE chairman.

BISE chairman Dr Mohammad Memon told Dawn that no one was picked up and quoted the board secretary as telling him that they were wearing Rangers uniform but avoided introducing themselves to him. He had reported the matter to the secretary to the chief minister, he said.
