Rescue 1122 evacuates 21,000 people
LAHORE: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has so far evacuated 21,172 flood affectees from flood-prone districts.
According to the provincial monitoring cell of the rescue service, about 4,208 people were evacuated from Chachran Sharif, 3,178 from Mauza Chohan, 477 from Bhong and 338 from Abadpur in Rahim Yar Khan district while 4,262 from Sumra Nashaib, 473 from Lohanch Nashaib, 402 from Dewan Chowk, 170 from Mauza Bakhri Ahmed Khan, 197 from Basti Gurmani, 20 from Mongar, 222 from Mauza Shahwala, 935 from Wara Sehr, 712 from Basti Jakhar, 167 from Maqsood Chowk and 310 from Basti Kanjal in Layyah district. Similarly, 266 people were evacuated from Tari Khel Kach, 209 from Mouch Kacha and 229 from Rokharri Kacha in Mianwali district.
Out of total 2,198 flood affectees of Muzaffargarh, 433 were evacuated from Kundai, 415 from Bangla Hinjra, 296 from Left Marginal Bund and three from Rind Adda. As many as 551 people were evacuated from Nishter Ghat, Indus River, 86 from Bhagsar, Rojhan, 145 from Bait Sontra, 175 from Rojhan Garh and 151 from Talliwala Bandro in Rajanpur district.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson at Jam Sajjad Husain said major rescue operations were conducted in Layyah, DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, RY Khan, Chiniot and Rajanpur.
