Gujrat health EDO made an OSD

GUJRAT: Punjab government finally removed Dr Ijaz Haider from the post of health executive district officer (EDO) on Wednesday and made him an officer on special duty (OSD).

There had been about a month-long agitation against the EDO, launched by the association of allied health workers. The officer had also been found guilty of misconduct by a three- member probe committee headed by Additional District Collector Irfan Ali Kathia.

Sources said the decision to make Dr Haider an OSD was taken after some ruling party lawmakers briefed the Punjab chief minister about the controversial position of the officer.

The chief minister, after examining the entire service record of Dr Haider, directed the concerned department to remove him from the slot.
