Rehabilitation of Kasur abuse victims sought

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Paediatric Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday expressed anger at and concern about the Kasur child abuse scandal and offered its services for the children’s rehabilitation.

Led by PPA provincial president Professor Amin Jan Gandapur, the association’s office-bearers demonstrated near the Peshawar Press Club against the Kasur child abuse and demanded the government hand down exemplary punish to the culprits and take urgent measures to rehabilitate their victims as well as families.

“We condemn the barbaric and inhuman incidence that has not only tormented around 300 children and their families but also shocked the entire nation,” Professor Amin said. The PPA provincial president said there would be an urgent need for psychological therapy and other necessary rehabilitation services. He said the association would help design and implement such services in collaboration with the Child Protection Bureau of Punjab.
