Terrorism bid foiled in Mardan

MARDAN: Police claimed here on Monday to have foiled a bid of terrorism in Sangi-Marmar village, located alongside the Mardan-Swabi road.

Police officials said that a police team rushed to the spot soon after getting information about the explosive devices planted beneath a bridge connecting both Mardan and Swabi roads.

They said that police official cordoned off the area and blocked the bridge to all kinds of traffic to avoid any untoward incident. The officials of bomb disposal squad were also called who defused the explosive devices, planted beneath the bridge, safely.

According to the officials, the devices weighed about 25 kilograms. The road was opened to traffic after the explosive devices were defused. Police registered a case against unidentified persons and started investigation in to the matter. Police also launched a search operation in the suspected areas to arrest perpetrators of the botched sabotage act.
