Sahiwal college gets students transport

SAHIWAL: The Government Post-Graduate College has got two buses for students’ transport for the first time since it was founded in 1942 .

The buses were purchased from the grant allocated by Punjab Minister for Ushr and Zakat Malik Nadeem Kamran.College Principal Prof Ikhlaq confirmed that the buses had been received by the institute.

The college has more than 5,000 male/female students in various disciplines while around 1,500 of them come from surrounding rural areas on public transport, facing severe problems. The college buses would run on rural routes so that students coming from non-privileged areas could get the maximum benefit.

“Most of the students belong to Noor Shah, Harappa, Yousawala, Gogera and Kameer,” said Mirza Moeen, head of the Punjabi department.

The student transport was a long standing demand of the college but it was not met by the government.
