Nine more devotees killed in Sehwan

DADU, Oct 17: Nine more devotees of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz were killed during the Urs on Thursday night and Friday.

Four drowned in the Aral Wah, two were crushed to death and three were killed in an accident.

Of the four who drowned, two were identified as Khalid Ahmad, 20, and Tasleem Naz, both residents of Multan.

The Edhi Centre sent the bodies to their native town.

The remaining two bodies were lying at the Sehwan Taluka Hospital unclaimed.

The bodies were recovered by social workers after six hours. No officer of the district government or the Mela Committee visited the spot where more than a dozen people drowned during the Urs.

TWO KILLED: Two devotees were killed while four others injured during a heavy rush at the main gate of the Dargah of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar on Friday.

Swaio Khan, 23, resident of Shikarpur city, and Khalilur Rehman, 34, resident of Multan, were crushed to death as a large crowd of devotees rushed to enter the Dargah.

Four other devotees, who could not be identified, were seriously injured in the stampede. They were shifted to the Taluka Hospital, Sehwan Sharif.

It may be noted here that it is the third and last day of the 751st annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

THREE KILLED: Three devotees of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz were killed and 30 were injured when a bus overturned on the Indus Highway and fell into a ditch near Sehwan on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Akhtar, 14, Rizwan, 15, and Shoaib, 20.
