ISLAMABAD: Consumers in Mardan will get increased power supply as two new autotransformers were inaugurated at the Rawat grid station on Tuesday.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director to Pakistan, John Groarke inaugurated the new autotransformers for the grid station and handed over tools and trucks to power distribution companies at a ceremony. 

The US government is helping the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) upgrade its network to accommodate increasing demand for electricity, a press release of the US embassy says.

USAID has provided training, equipment and vehicles to enhance the capacity of four distribution companies: Lahore Electric Supply Company, Quetta Electric Supply Company, Multan Electric Power Company and the Sukkur Electric Power Company. 

This initiative is part of the US government’s commitment to support the Pakistan government in making improvements in the energy sector. 

The assistance to the National Transmission and Dispatch Company is an example of the US support for the government of Pakistan’s efforts to increase power production and improve its delivery.
