ANP calls for full enforcement of National Action Plan

CHARSADDA: Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to fully implement the National Action Plan (NAP) and call an All-Party Conference (APC) after the deadly militant attack on the PAF camp in Peshawar.

Talking to journalists here, he said that attack by militants on PAF camp in Badhaber showed that backbone of terrorists was not broken.

He termed the attack a cowardly and wild act of barbarism, saying terrorist once again shed blood of innocent people.

The ANP leader said that militants were still calling the shots as they could target government installations and other sensitive places.

He said that militants even didn’t spare Punjab minister Shuja Khanzada. Such violent acts would continue to occur till full implementation of NAP.

Mr Khan asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to call APC to devise a joint strategy to cope with the acts of terrorism. He said that the country was facing external and internal threats so uniting of all political parties on one platform was vital for taking bold decisions, which needed national consensus.

The ANP leader said that Army Public School tragedy brought the military and civilian leadership on the same page. He said that chances of better relations with Afghanistan were bright when Ashraf Ghani became president of the neighbouring country but unfortunately the expectations of the people of both the countries couldn’t be met.

He linked peace in Pakistan with restoration of peace in Afghanistan.

Mr Khan said that the country was passing through a critical stage so leaders of all parties ANP seeks full enforcement of National Action Plan should set aside their differences for the sake of nation and country. He said that provincial government couldn’t exonerate itself from providing security to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

SHERPAO: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan has stressed the need for establishing better mutual understanding, harmony and bilateral relations with Afghanistan for restoration of durable peace in the region.

He said that Pakhtun leaders should play their role in bring the people of the neighbouring countries closer.

Talking to journalists at the residence Asif Jan Khan, chief of Rajar, Mr Sherpao said that attack on PAF camp was the biggest tragedy after the APS carnage, which spread a wave shock and fear in the whole nation.

QWP provincial chief Sikandar Khan Sherpao, MPA Sultan Mohammad Khan and others party leaders were also present on the occasion.

Mr Sherpao said that successes of military operation should be appreciated but the weakness and drawbacks in it should be identified to bring improvement in it.

He said that although the losses and casualties were less than the terrorists’ expectation yet the attack on PAF camp worried the whole nation.

“The militants might have come from Afghanistan but I don’t think that Afghan government was involved in sponsoring the attack,” said Mr Sherpao.

He said that Ashraf Ghani government had no writ in some areas of Afghanistan so pressure should not be put on his government. He said that misunderstanding between Pakistan and Afghanistan should be cleared and Pakhtun leadership should come forward to play its due role in that regard.
