ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met his British counterpart David Cameron on Wednesday as the two leaders exchanged views on issues of global and regional importance, including the situation in Afghanistan.

Nawaz is currently in London, while on his way to New York to attend the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), read an official communiqué issued from Pakistan High Commission London.

Upon his arrival at 10 Downing Street, the premier was received by David Cameron as both leaders expressed satisfaction on the overall trajectory of the bilateral relations between the two sides and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

Nawaz stated that Pakistan and UK enjoyed close and cordial relations in diverse fields including trade, commerce, education, security and defence. He also highlighted that the presence of a large number of Pakistanis in the UK acted as a bridge between the two countries.

The premier reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours in line with his vision. He also highlighted Pakistan’s important role and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Cameron welcomed Pakistan’s policies for a peaceful neighbourhood and appreciated the country’s role in the fight against militancy and terrorism.

Pakistan to apprise UN of Indian subversive activities

Pakistan has taken a decision in principle to raise the issue of Indian subversive activities in Pakistan at the United Nations.

According to a report published by Radio Pakistan’s website, the relevant authorities are working out a mechanism to effectively present Pakistan's case on Indian interference at the world body.

It said Pakistan has concrete evidence of Indian involvement in acts of terrorism in the country, and that Pakistan does not respond to the Indian propaganda campaign rather it has solid proof against New Delhi.

The reports further said that “Pakistan desires normalisation of relations with India and the purpose of highlighting the Indian interference at the world forum is to stop India from mischief and aggression”.

Pakistan does not send non-state actors to India rather it has started an unflinching campaign to purge the homeland from terrorist elements, it added.
