Epidemic claims 6 lives in Haripur
HARIPUR, Oct 19: Six persons including three women have died so far and many others were hospitalized of virulent endemic of dengue fever in different parts of Haripur.
Officials at the EDO health office Haripur have, however, denied the prevalence of disease adding that to determine dengue positive or negative was difficult without laboratory reports of blood samples, which were still awaited.
During the last 20 days the incidence of high-grade fever with symptoms identical to dengue fever were common in various villages of Khanpur and union council Sera-i-Nehmat Khan.
During the last two weeks about six deaths were reported from a particular radius of five km of village Pind Mehri.
Those who died of high grade fever were identified as, Reshman Jan, Barkat Bibi, Shamim Bibi, Mohammed Riaz, Mohammed Taj, Mehmood and Mubashir Khan.
Local health officials dispelled the impression that all deaths were caused by dengue fever. The officials said the virology reports of over 50 samples was still awaited from NIH.
