Jamali calls for change in Balochistan govt under Murree Accord

QUETTA: Former speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali has said that a new coalition government led by PML-N should be formed in Balochistan under the Murree Accord.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said that under the new set-up PML-N should also be offered key ministries because mere change of the chief minister would not suffice. “All portfolios held by the ministers belonging to the National Party and the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, particularly those of finance and planning and development, should be given to PML-N.”

Mr Jamali, a PML-N member of the Balochistan Assembly, said his party’s ministers and MPAs had suffered over the past two-and-a-half years because of the “attitude” of the ministers for finance and planning and development.

Answering a question, he said that the provincial president of PML-N Nawab Sanaullah Zehri should visit Islamabad along with other senior leaders of the party and talk to the party’s top leadership about a recent statement made by secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in which he reportedly said that there would be no change in the Balochistan government.

In reply to another question, he said that law and order situation in the province had improved to a considerable extent because of joint efforts by the civil and military leadership but credit for that mainly went to the army.

He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would usher in economic turnaround in the region and Balochistan would be its main beneficiary.

“With the completion of the project, thousands of jobs will be created for the people of Balochistan and economy of the province will be strengthened. Gwadar will become an economic hub of the country.”

Mr Jamali asked the government to take measures to ensure that local people were not turned into a minority in the province.
