‘Target killer’ arrested in Hangu

KOHAT: The counter terrorism department (CTD), Kohat division, on Saturday arrested an alleged target killer involved in the murder politicians, in an operation in Hangu.

A CTD spokesman said that the department got a tip-off that a target killer was hiding in Hangu after which a team from Kohat raided a place and arrested him.

Identified as Israfeel, resident of Orakzai Agency, he was wanted by several police stations in cases of target killing. He was affiliated to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and had targeted several pro-government personalities in Hangu during last seven years.

The CTD spokesman said more details about the outlaw couldn’t be disclosed for the purpose of investigation, adding that the accused had been shifted to Kohat.

During the operation, the spokesman said police also arrested 36 suspects, including nine Afghan nationals. The Afghans were booked under the 14 Foreigners Act and sent to prison for their onward deportation to their country.

Meanwhile, the Kohat police claimed on Saturday to have nabbed an alleged terrorist named Jameel from Nasrat Khel area.
