Army called for security in Kohat

KOHAT: The district administration has called out army in aid of police for the security of Imambargahs and the mourners’ processions in Kohat city.

Now the army, earlier put on standby, would hold positions in aid of the police in the city, district police officer Mohammad Sohaeb told media persons here on Tuesday.

He said during the processions no public transport would enter the Kohat city and all shopping centres and shops would remain shut as a precautionary measure. Helicopters would monitor the surrounding mountains and other high spots during the processions of 9th and 10th Muharram, he added.

Meanwhile, the sixth Muharram processions taken out from Ustarzai Payan and Sherkot areas on Hangu road ended peacefully after passing through the traditional routes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, electricity supply to the district remained suspended after hailstorm night snapped wires and tripped transformers on Monday night.
