Five kiosks demolished

ISLAMABAD: A team of enforcement wing and District Municipal Authority (DMA) of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday demolished five kiosks in sector H/-8.

“We have demolished five kiosks and the operation will continue until all 250 illegal kiosks in the federal capital are removed,” said Ramzan Sajid, the CDA spokesperson.

A senior officer of the CDA, however, said on the condition of anonymity that illegal commercial activity without the support of CDA officials was not possible.

Besides taking action against small kiosks, the CDA should also initiate inquiry against those officials, who connived in flourishing the business of kiosks in Islamabad.

The senior officer said the Capital Development Authority should continue its drive against the non-conforming use of residential plots as currently there are around 2,000commercial outlets operating in residential areas.

He said that the city managers had sealed only 49 business outlets as yet.

The spokesman, however, said the operation would continue until the removal of all encroachments. “We will not allow anyone to run business outlets in residential areas,” he claimed.
