LARKANA: Nadra resolve NIC issue: Dist Council
LARKANA, Oct 24: The members of the district council, Larkana, deliberating on the motion regarding complications villagers face in obtaining computerized National Identity Cards, stressed holding a detailed meeting with Nadra officials to reduce their problems.
Dr Niaz Chandio, who is also chairman of the District Public Safety Commission, tabling a motion, said that villagers visiting the local Nadra office were facing tremendous problems.
He alleged that the way computerized National Identity Cards were issued pointed towards showing a smaller population for Sindh province.
He proposed to simplify the procedure by removing unnecessary procedural bottlenecks.
Amir Bakhsh Gaad, the chief whip, Safdar Mithani, Khair Mohammed Shaikh, Masood Chandio and others taking the rostrum supported the move and called for holding an early meeting with Nadra officials so as to make the issuance of cards easy.
They said with this meeting a yawning gap between Nadra officials and the elected representatives could be bridged as presently Nazims’ signatures were not being accepted.
Shabir Ahmed Hakiro, a Nazim from Banguldero, pointed towards the expiry of sub-committees of the council and called for holding fresh elections to choose a new chairman.
The convener, Nazir Ahmed Bughio, who was in the chair, opposed it.
The convener said that the elections to the sub-committees would be held whenever needed and doubted that it might be a conspiracy.
When the convener blocked it, only Hayat Shaikh from Nasirabad could talk on the proposal.
Badruddin Abbasi, while submitting a report, proposed Rs4,000 per month as honorarium for the members of the district council, which was unanimously passed.
Amir Bakhsh Gaad, while taking the floor in a resolution, alleged the MNAs and senators of torpedoing the devolution of power plan and termed it a conspiracy.
Shabir Hakiro supported the point, while Hayat Shaikh and Ghulam Rasool Noonari opposed it saying that the system, though good, would die with the departure of President Gen Musharraf from power.
The district council also opposed bearing expenses of the Nazims’ offices, adding that it was in flagrant violation of the Local Government Ordinance.
Later, the session with a majority of votes passed the resolution of saving the devolution of power plan.
PPP-SB: A general workers’ meeting of the PPP-SB, Larkana Taluka, was held here on Friday at the Kennedy Market in which the construction of the greater Thal canal was opposed.
Imtiaz Gaad, senior vice-president of the PPP-SB, Larkana Taluka, presided over the meeting.
It stood for striking consensus among all the provinces as the PPP-SB would block the unilateral move in this direction.
Speaking on the occasion, Barkat Chandio, Jabbar Korai, Ghulam Nabi Chandio and others alleged that the legislatures were wasting time in beating the benches in the assembly against the Legal Framework Order.
