PTI MPA booked for beating PAT candidate
KASUR: Pattoki Sadar police registered a case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Asif Nakai, his son and six others on charge of torturing a candidate of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Tuesday.
According to the first information report, PTI leader Asif Nakai, the grandson of former Chief Minister Arif Nakai, wanted PAT candidate Asghar Ali to step down in favour of a candidate of Nakai family, Atif Nakai, for election in Union Council-96 of Adhan village.
On the polling day, Asif Nakai, his son Awais Nakai and six others severely beat Asghar Ali and his relative Hafiz Rehman. Some reporters of TV channels covered the incident and aired the footage.
Ali of village Partab Garh had lost election against Atif Nakai in the union council and the suspects beat Ali also on Monday after the results were declared.
RECOUNT: A PTI candidate that won election on Oct 31 maintained his victory after recounting on Tuesday while adding 16 more votes to his credit.
Muhamamd Sarwar had won the election from UC-31 Fatehpur but his runner-up Malik Mazhar Rasheed Khan of the PML-N challenged the result with the ECP, demanding recounting of votes.
ELECTROCUTED: A gardener was electrocuted after touching a transmission wire while was cutting the branches of a tree at Kamal Chishti Chowk, Deepalpur Road.
Ghulam Nabi was cutting the branches of trees on the premises of a petrol filling station when his scissors touched a high-voltage transmission wire. As a result, he died instantly.
HANGED: A murder convict was hanged at the District Jail on Tuesday.
Convict Akram of Daroghawala Lahore had stabbed to death one Muhammad Asif over a trifle in 1998.
The jail administration handed over the body to the family.
