Security forces claim recovery of weapons cache from Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR: Security officials on Wednesday claimed to have recovered a large cache of foreign-made-weapons during a search operations in Khyber Tribal Agency.

Security forces said that a huge amount of foreign-made-weapons were seized during search operations conducted in different parts of Khyber Agency.

The recovered weapons were presented before reporters on Wednesday. The weapons on display include rocket propelled grenade (RPGs), sub-machine guns (SMGs), MMR rifles, mortar shells, anti-aircraft guns SMGs launchers and thousand of cartridges recovered during search operations.

According to security official the weapons were manufactured in Russia and the United States.

Security officials told the reporters that the weapons recovered during search operations in different parts of Khyber Agency after end of Khyber-II operation.

Security officials claimed that 200 terrorists were killed while 500 had surrendered during the past six months after the end of Khyber-II operation.

Khyber is among Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, which was said to be rife with homegrown insurgents and foreign militants.

Operation Khyber-I and Khyber-II were launched by the army in the tribal region and are part of the military's stepped-up efforts since a militant attack in Dec 2014 killed 150 people, mostly children, at Peshawar's Army Public School.
