DADU: Dadu Ittehad wins dist Naib Nazim seat

DADU, Oct 28: A candidate of the Dadu Ittehad, Dr Zahid Jatoi, was elected the district Naib Nazim while the candidate of the PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel boycotted the run-off election held here on Tuesday.

According to unofficial results the Dadu Ittehad candidate, Dr Zahid Ali Jatoi secured 802 votes out of 1,576 while the Awam Dost candidate Dost Ali Jaiser, despite the boycott call secured 25 votes.

After announcement of the results, a rally, led by Federal Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi was taken out in Dadu town.

On being contacted, the PPP-backed candidate, Dost Ali Jaiser, said that following his boycott appeal no polling agent, councillor and PPP worker had participated in the run-off election held on Tuesday.

He said that the police had arrested about 50 councillors and were conducting raids at the houses of PPP leaders Qazi Shafiq Mahessar, Talat Mahessar, Qambar Leghari and others.

PROTEST: The doctors, paramedical staff and clerks of the Civil Hospital Dadu boycotted wards, operation theatres and office work on Tuesday to protest against attack on the civil surgeon, additional civil surgeon and dental surgeon of the Civil Hospital Dadu.

Senior doctors were visiting the OPD early in the morning when three armed men demanded money and injured the civil surgeon and also beat up other doctors.

Later, the staff of the civil hospital held a protest demonstration in the town and at the press club for an hour.

The doctors, led by the civil surgeon of the civil hospital, Dr Javed Ahmed Dawach, raised slogans against the unknown attackers.

Civil Surgeon Dr Javed Ahmed Dawach said that security should be provided to the doctors at the civil hospital.
