Chitral: energy crisis

CHITRAL areawise is the second largest district of our country. Its population is about 750,000. Unluckily, Chitralis are facing a number of problems. One is electricity shortage.

In Chitral, there are many suitable sites for hydropower projects. According to the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme survey, 22,000 MW environment-friendly electricity can be generated from hydropower in Chitral.

An interest on the construction of hydropower project at these sites will almost fulfil the shortage of electricity of the whole country. The power projects will also fulfil those problems which people of Chitral are facing.
