Quetta, Karachi reach T20 quarters
KARACHI: Left-arm spinner Mohammad Ameer bowled an incredible spell of four wickets for just one run in four overs as Quetta along with Karachi, Islamabad, Multan, Hyderabad and Rawalpindi clinched the remaining six last-eight spots in the ICRC National Disabled T20 Cricket Championship here on Wednesday.
Quetta booked their spot after sealing a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Bahawalpur in the Group ‘B’ fixture at the RLCA Gulberg Ground.
Karachi, billed as one of the favourites for the title, annihilated Sialkot by 102 runs at the RLCA Gulberg Ground to make up for the shock loss to Peshawar on Monday to finish second in Group ‘A’ behind Peshawar, who along with holders Lahore had qualified for the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Rawalpindi defeated Hyderabad by 52 runs at the National Stadium to score their second success in Group ’B’, while Multan whipped Faisalabad by 10 wickets at the UBL Sports Complex to record their second successive win in Group ‘C’.
The quarter-finals on Thursday coincide with the World Disabled Day, which is universally celebrated every year on Dec 3. A special ceremony will be held at the National Stadium with all competing teams in attendance.
