CDGL to remove religious posters, wall chalking

LAHORE: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) on Monday launched a drive to remove all wall chalking, handbills, posters promoting religious, sectarian, commercial and social events and messages.

The core objective of the drive is to stop publicity of any event meant to spread hatred, sectarianism leading to any untoward situation in the city.

β€œOn Monday, various teams comprising officials of the Nishtar, Iqbal, Ravi, Wagah, Shalimar, Gulberg and Data Ganj Bakhsh town municipal administrations and Walton and Lahore cantonment boards removed hundreds of posters, wall chalking from across the city. Several banners were also removed,” a CDGL spokesman said.

He said the drive would continue till cleaning of all walls and important sites in the city. He also said each town and cantonment board had constituted two teams for the purpose.
