Six poachers held in Gujrat: Beating up of wildlife team
GUJRAT, Oct 30: Tanda police registered a case against six poachers for manhandling and thrashing the district Wildlife officer and his staff, Dawn learnt here on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off that some poachers were shooting protected species in Mauza Karry Sharif, district wildlife officer Amjad Khan and his staff rushed to the spot and forbade them from their illegal activities. Falling into a rage, the six poachers attacked the wildlife team and thrashed them.
LOOTED: Three robbers looted a couple and a pick-up driver on Jaura-Lalamusa Road near Bhelot village on Wednesday evening.
Riasat Ali and his wife were going back to their house by a motorcycle when armed robbers intercepted them. They snatched Rs6,000 in cash and 10 tolas of gold from them. In the meantime, they also stopped the pick-up (GTD-475) and snatched Rs10,000 in cash from its driver Asghar. Later, the robbers escaped in their car.
Lalamusa Sadar police have instituted a case.
The three car riders have looted a number of couples and other people during the last two months, but the police have failed to arrest them.
INAUGURATED: District Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain on Thursday inaugurated the latest equipment installed in 10 BHUs of the district.
The district government has provided funds for the latest instruments which have been installed in emergencies, labour rooms and clinical laboratories of BHUs in Harriawala, Gorala, Chak Sada, Jamalpur, Bhagowal Kalan, Sheikh Chogani, Alam Garrh, Hanjra and Fatehpur villages.
