Siyal visits Sanghar areas amid PML-F protests

SANGHAR: Amid continued protests in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Badin, Mirpurkhas and other districts over an alleged crackdown on Pakistan Muslim League-Functional activists and followers of its leader Pir Pagara, Sindh Home Minster Sohail Anwar Siyal on Sunday visited Tando Adam and Jhol towns to condole the death of two Pakistan Peoples Party activists and two police constables in an armed attack in Sanghar on Dec 15.

The PML-F has been protesting over the alleged crackdown and police excesses since the incident took place.

Mr Siyal visited the bereaved families and offered his condolences.

He announced Rs2 million compensation for each of the two police constable killed in the attack. He also promised police jobs for one member of each family.

Speaking to the media during his visit, the minister said that the culprits of the Sanghar incident would be taken to task. He also warned that those who were staging street protests over the investigation process would also be dealt with sternly.

He said he visited the bereaved families on a directive of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
