KARACHI: Jahangir Javed played a brilliant knock of 84 to help Medicam complete an easy 58-run victory over Soni Associates in the opening fixture of the second Dollar East Premier Cricket League at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium here on Tuesday.

Bating first, Medicam collected 161-4 in the allotted 20 overs with opener Jahangir striking 10 boundaries and one six in his 56-ball innings. Shahzar Hasan also batted to make 44 (41 balls, one four and one six) as he and Jahangir shared a second-wicket partnership of 111.

Soni Associates, in reply, struggled against the off-spin duo of Mohammad Yaqoob (3-13) and Qamar Iqbal (3-20) and were dismissed for 103 in 17.3 overs with tailender Mohammad Khurram scoring 24 not out.

Zaheer Ahmed Sheikh, chairman of Dollar East Sports who was the chief guest, gave away the man-of-the-award to Jahangir.

Al-Hamza CC will take on Dalda CC in the next match on Wednesday.
