PML-N to fulfil promises made with Swabi people
SWABI: Amir Muqam, adviser to the prime minister, assured the PML-N district leaders here on Thursday that his party would fulfil the pledges he had made with them and the people of Swabi district during the campaign for 2013 general elections.
The assurance was given to the district leaders in a meeting attended by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz district president Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, general secretary Dildar Khan and local government representatives belonging to the party.
Mr Muqam said that the interior ministry had given a green signal for opening the passport office in the district in January. He said that the construction of the building for passport office was in the final stages. He said that the passport office would also facilitate the people of all the nearby districts.
Dildar Khan told Dawn that the party leaders also raised the issue of Sui gas office because the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited had failed to establish its office here in the district and the consumers were forced to visit Mardan for minor correction of the bills.

“We have been assured by the leadership that the SNGPL office would be set up in the district soon,” he said.
The party leaders also demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should visit the district and announce mega projects for resolution of its problems.
DEATH CONDOLED: Leaders of political parties visited the residence of Maulana Tayyab and retired Major Mohammad Aamir on Thursday to condole the death of Yaman Tayyab, who was killed in an accident on Wednesday. The deceased was the son of Maulana Tayyab and nephew of Mr Aamir.
Those who visited Panjpir included QWP chairman Aftab Sherpao, Sardar Hussain Babak of ANP, senators Gul Naseeb Khan and Rahat Hussain, MNA Abdul Latif, Amir Muqam and district nazim Ameer Rehman. They offered fateha for the departed soul and prayed for patience of the bereaved family to bear the loss.
Meanwhile, one of the four injured in the same accident succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in Peshawar on Thursday. The victim was identified as Mohammad Saqib, a second year student of Quaid-i-Azam International Model School. He belonged to Kalabat village.
