Azam blasts hurricane century

KARACHI: Highly-talented Azam Khan bludgeoned a brilliant century as Moin Khan Cricket Academy sealed an eight-wicket win against UBL Cricket Academy in the second Inter-academy Cricket League at the UBL ‘B’ Ground here the other day.

Azam, son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, struck 151 from only 72 balls with the aid of 13 sixes and 14 fours to help his side reach a target of 228 in only 23.2 overs. Arsalan Wasim made a 63-ball 66 (nine fours and one six).

Earlier, UBL Academy were all out for 227 in 37.5 overs with Mohammad Shahid blasting an incredible 73 off mere 23 deliveries that included seven sixes and as many fours, while Ghulam Haider scored 51 (44 balls, five fours and three sixes).

Israr Ahmed picked up four wickets for 61 runs and Fayyaz Ahmed 3-38.

Moin Khan Cricket Academy secured 31 match points with their opponents getting just seven.

Earlier in another match played at the same venue, UBL Academy suffered a six-wicket loss against PIA Cricket Academy.

PIA earned 29 points to UBL’s five.
