42 revellers arrested on new year’s night

GUJRANWALA: Cantonment police arrested 42 people, including six girls, who were celebrating the new year’s night here on Thursday.

Civil Lines Superintendent of Police Nadeem Khokhar was informed that Faisal Ashraf Khokhar had arranged a party on the roof of his trade centre.

A team led by the Cantt station house officer conducted a raid and found people smoking sheesha, dancing, music being played loud and a bonfire. The team arrested 42 people, including six girls, and registered a case against them.

SEALED: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) sealed three allegedly illegal housing societies and demolished offices and other constructions there in Goraya and Kotli Peer Ahmad Shah.

GDA Chairman Nawaz Chohan, MPA and GDA Director General Maqbool Ahmad Langah told the media a crackdown was going on on illegal housing societies.

A team under supervision of Deputy Director (Enforcement Cell) Mirza Shah Zaman and state officer Mirza Babar conducted a raid on Gulshan Rehman near Kotli Peer Ahmad Shah, Safoora Town and Islampur in Goraya and sealed them.

They said action would be taken against developers Rana Riaz Ahmad, Mehar Ahmad Awais and Chaudhry Ghulam Rasool Kamboh.
