2.82MW hydro plant at Pakpattan canal
MULTAN: Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Power Development Company Limited (PPDC) Ehsan Majeed said on Wednesday the provincial government was going to establish a hydro power plant at the Pakpattan Link Canal and the electricity generated from the plant would be provided to the Multan Electric and Power Company (Mepco).
He said this at a ceremony to sign an agreement between the PPDC and Mepco regarding the purchase of 2.82 megawatt. He said the electricity generated at Pakpattan Link Canal would be added to the system through the 132-KV Grid Station Pakpattan while Rs82 million would be spent on a 14-kilometre transmission line.
Mepco Chief Executive Officer Fazalullah Durani said small hydro projects on canals would help overcome the energy crisis.
He said both the Punjab and federal governments were working on emergency grounds to end the energy crisis and work on various projects of hydro, coal, gas, liquefied natural gas, wind and solar was underway.
