Case against Dasti for ‘humiliating’ hospital MS

MUZAFFARGARH: The city police have registered a case against MNA Jamshed Ahmad Dasti and former PPP MPA Irshad Ahmad Sial for “misbehaving with and threatening the Social Security Hospital medical superintendent”.

Police sources said MNA Dasti reached the hospital on the call of dispenser Rashid and other officials, while former MPA Sial also reached there after some time. On complaint about MS Dr Mobashir Hassan that he browbeat officials under his command, Dasti used harsh words and asked him to get out from the office, they said.

Dasti said Dr Hassan would harass and threaten officials and he visited the hospital to have a first-hand knowledge of the situation. He said he would raise this issue in the National Assembly as well.

Dr Hassan told Dawn that some officials had been suspended from service on the allegation of misconduct and an inquiry was under way. He said Jamshed Dasti stormed his office and humiliated him and he (Dr Hassan) informed the DCO about the incident.

MPA Sial said he had no role in it and the city police had registered a case under section 506, 147, 149, 341 of PPC against him, MNA Dasti and 30 unidentified people.

Meanwhile, doctors and other staff members protested against Dasti and Sial. DPO Malik Awais said that on the application of the medical superintendent, he ordered police to register a case against the MNA and former MPA.

Dasti is known for activism and five years ago he, along with a mob, allegedly attacked doctors of the DHQ Hospital and police registered a case against him and more than 200 other people under 7ATA.
