Apex body reviews progress on NAP

PESHAWAR: Apex Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reviewed here on Thursday progress on the implementation of the National Action Plan and discussed matters related to return of temporarily dislocated persons (TDPs) and security of Karakoram Highway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, said an official statement.

Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan chaired the meeting. The committee discussed in detail the law and order situation prevailing in the province and Fata and also reviewed the progress and implementation of the previous decisions and the implementation of the NAP. Second phase of the return process of displaced persons to their homes also came under discussion.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt-Gen Hidayatur Rehman, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani, Acting IGFC Brigadier Qaiser, deputy commandant Frontier Constabulary, additional chief secretary Fata, secretary home KP and GB, and other officers concerned also attended the meeting.

Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafizur Rehman and Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lt-Gen Zafar Iqbal were also invited to the meeting.

The committee reviewed the overall progress on the implementation of NAP and decided to take further steps in this regard.

The meeting was briefed about the security measures of Karakoram Highway and pace of progress on the ongoing security arrangements in the affected areas.
