Stay against Ring Road land acquisition

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court full bench stayed on Wednesday the acquisition of Bahria Town Lahore’s land for the extension of Ring Road and sought replies from the Punjab government by January 25.

The bench headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah passed the order on a petition by the Bahria Town’s administration.

Bahria Town’s counsel argued the government issued a notification to acquire a portion of housing society’s land to build Ring Road. He said it was unlawful because such a huge road in the populated area would create many problems. He pleaded the court to stop the government from acquiring land.
