Sharmeen does it again

There’s no stopping this gal. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who already has one Oscar award on her mantelpiece for making that sensitive documentary Saving Face, has now received another Oscar nomination for her latest socially-conscious effort, A Girl in the River.

The film focuses on the issue of honour killings, which goes to show that the film-maker wants to highlight those issues pertaining to Pakistani society which have been gnawing at its soul for a long, long time.

Kudos, Sharmeen OC! We’re sure you’re going to bag your second Oscar trophy, but not the last one for sure.
