FIA arrests two men for 'selling Afghan SIMs' in Chaman
QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday apprehended two suspects for selling and possessing Afghan SIM cards in the country's border town of Chaman.
A FIA official told DawnNews that cyber crime unit of the agency conducted a raid in Chaman and apprehended two suspects, identified as Asmatullah and Muhammad Ramzan, for selling and possessing Afghan SIMs.
"FIA also recovered a large number of Afghan SIM cards from the possession of the accused, the duo were shifted to FIA's Chaman centre for interrogation," said the official.
The law enforcement agencies have launched a crack-down against the elements involved in possession and distribution of Afghan SIMs after the attack on Bach Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last week.
At least 21 people were killed when unidentified gunmen entered the university in Charsadda and opened fire on students and faculty members.
Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations Lt Gen Asim Bajwa had said four terrorists that attacked the university used two mobile phones with Afghan SIMs and received calls from different locations, including Afghanistan.

Four 'militants' killed
Frontier Corps (FC) claimed to have killed four suspected militants in Balochistan's Lasbela area on Tuesday. The militants linked with an outlawed militant organisation were killed during exchange of fire.
FC Spokesman Khan Wasey said security forces also recovered weapons from the possession of militants adding that the suspects were involved in carrying out bomb blasts, kidnapping for ransom and attacks on security forces in the province.
