American woman marries Facebook love in Daska
SIALKOT: The 32-year-old Pakistani-American bride flew from the US to marry a Daska-based 35-year-old man she found on Facebook.
Raheela Saadi is now in Ladhey village of Daska after marrying Chaand Ali, an electrician, on Tuesday. She says she is happy to be with her love of life even though she lacks the American lifestyle in the village.
She is living in an unpaved, mud house in the Daska village. They began talking to each other on Facebook messenger three months ago.
Villagers accorded a warm welcome to Raheela and her family upon their arrival in the village from Atlanta, US, on Sunday.
Wearing traditional Pakistani bridal dresses, Raheela said the pure love of Chaand had attracted her to the village, adding that she would live a happy life with her husband in the village, where there is no electricity and gas.
Her family said that they were very happy on Raheela’s choice as Chaand and his family were likeable, sincere, honest and hardworking.
The village hosted a lunch for the American family and other wedding guests on Tuesday at a ceremony.
