Teacher’s ‘kidnapping’: GCUF expels two girl students
FAISALABAD: Government College University Faisalabad expelled two female students of zoology department and cancelled the LLB degree of an old student over their alleged involvement in kidnapping of an assistant professor.
The decision has been taken following the recommendations of the GCUF Discipline Committee which met on Thursday and recommended action against them. Two notifications with the approval of Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Ali were issued on Thursday (copies available with Dawn).
The female students -- Nawal Touseef of 8th semester and Rabia Farzand of 6th semester (zoology) -- have been expelled with immediate effect as both have been found guilty of breaching the university rules. LLB degree of Ahsan Touseef has been cancelled who remained a university student in 2011-14 session.
The notification reads that Touseef kidnapped Dr Khizar Samiullah from the university, subjected him to severe torture and hurled life threats at him.
A kidnapping case has also been registered against him and his accomplices with Gulberg police with no arrest so far.
University teachers are boycotting the classes for one to two hours daily demanding arrest of the suspect.
Sources said the row erupted when Touseef demanded Ms Nawal’s fee voucher which Dr Samiullah refused to issue.
Dr Samiullah was kidnapped on Jan 21 last and was later thrown by his kidnappers on the Narawala Road, just a few meters from the varsity gate. The VC could not be contacted to know the reason for expulsion of the female students.
