Mor Mahal, a period fantasy

The wait is over. Those of us who wanted to see Pakistani television drama reach new heights, here’s something to really look forward to. Mor Mahal, one of the biggest Asian projects to hit the TV screens, is an attempt at taking the prime time Urdu play to a new level.

Written by Sarmad Sehbai and directed by Sarmad Khoosat, the drama intends to redefine the process of making a period fantasy (a fusion of the Mughal period with Greek, Turkish and Egyptian civilisations) using both classical and modern-day techniques. Seasoned writer Imran Aslam came up with the concept of Mor Mahal which has a stellar cast, including Umair Jaswal, Hina Bayat, Sarwat Jehan, Misha Shafi, Fizza Ali, Jaana Malik, Sami Khan and Sania Saeed.
