Four killed in ‘encounter’ with Multan police

MULTAN: Police claim to have killed four dacoits in an alleged encounter near Alaaywali Pul in Shujaabad on Saturday.

According to a police handout, on the orders of City Police Officer Azhar Akram a raid was conducted in Alaaywali area in Shjaabad city police jurisdiction for the arrest of hardened criminal Ramzan alias Mana, the ringleader of Mana Langah gang.

The handout said as the police besieged the criminal’s hideout, Langah along his accomplices opened fire on police.

In the ensuing shootout between the police and dacoits, Mana Langah was killed “in the firing of his own accomplices” while his son Kashif alias Kashi Langah and two other suspects, Shani and Ashraf, who belonged to Karachi, were severally injured. Later, they too succumbed to their wounds, it said.

It said Mana Langah was involved in more than 30 cases of dacoity, murder and injuring policemen.

The provincial government has announced Rs2 million head money on Langah. Four Kalashnikovs and some bullets were recovered from the criminals, the handout said.
