Asian dream over for K-Electric
KARACHI: K-Electric’s dream of being the first team from Pakistan to reach the AFC Cup group stage came to an end when they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Bahrain’s Al Hidd in their playoff on Tuesday.
Patrick Idefayo Olusegun’s goal on the hour mark before another strike deep into injury time by Mohammed Al Dawood saw K-Electric’s journey in Asia’s second-tier club competition come to an end after they had won the qualifying playoff in August.
According to the information made available here, Al Hidd had two goals disallowed either side of Nigerian Olusegun’s winner at the Bahrain National Stadium in Manama.
K-Electric pushed men forward in search of an equaliser which would’ve taken the game into extra time and penalties but Al Hidd twisted the knife with virtually the last kick of the game as Dawood sealed their berth in the AFC Cup for a third straight season.
