Body set up to investigate Karachi textile city delay

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Textile Industry has constituted a subcommittee to identify factors leading to delay in establishment of a textile city in Karachi.

In a meeting on Wednesday, Standing Committee Chairman Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan expressed displeasure over the absence of the deputy commissioner of Malir, Karachi.

Discussing the issue of water supply of Pakistan Textile City Limited, Karachi, the committee observed that the increase in the cost was primarily due to unnecessary delay in the completion of the project.

The subcommittee, to be headed by MNA Rasheed Ahmad Godil, will further discuss the issue with the relevant stakeholders. Other members of the committee are: Jamshed Ahmed Dasti, Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, Shakir Basheer Awan and Rana Umer Nazir Khan.
