Abbottabad district nazim restored

ABBOTTABAD: The Peshawar High Court’s Abbottabad Circuit Bench on Wednesday restored the Abbottabad district nazim by suspending the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan to de-seat him.

District nazim Sardar Sher Bahadar had filed a petition before the circuit bench contesting the ECP’s decision of de-seating him as member of the Abbottabad District Council. Advocate Babar Sattar, counsel for the petitioner, requested for suspension of the impugned order of the ECP.

The bench comprising Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Qalandar Ali Khan after initial hearing of the case granted interim relief to the appellant and fixed Feb 26 for next hearing and also issued notice to the ECP.

It merits a mention here that Sardar Sher Bahadar, PTI’s former district president, had contested the LG elections as an independent candidate after PTI refused to award him a ticket.
