Medical college students demand affiliation

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Students of Ghazi Medical College (GMC) on Wednesday set up a protest camp and demanded registration of their institute.

The protesters said the future of 600 students was at stake as the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council was delaying affiliation of the college.

As many as 100 students of final year are about to pass out of the college in coming three days.

One of the protesters, Fayaz, told Dawn that in 2010 four colleges had been established in Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Sialkot and Dera Ghazi Khan.

He said except DG Khan medical college, other colleges were affiliated by the PMDC.

Another student Shehzad said: “We had been holding protest demonstrations for the last three years but no body was paying attention to our demand.”

Members of the Young Doctors Association also participated in the protest camp.
