Apex body resolves to overcome CPEC hurdles

QUETTA: A meeting of the Apex Committee of Balochistan decided on Tuesday to expedite the pace of implementation on the National Action Plan (NAP) in the province.

Presided over by Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, the meeting was attended by Commander of Southern Command Lieute­nant General Aamir Riaz, Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah, General Officers Commanding 41 DIV Major General Aftab Khan, Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, Ins­pector General of Frontier Corps Major General Sher Afgan, Inspector General of Police Ahsan Mehboob and other officers.

The meeting decided that different law-enforcement agencies would launch joint intelligence-based operations against terrorists and their facilitators. It expressed concern over hurdles being created for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and decided to overcome all obstructions.

The meeting discussed the implementation of NAP in the province and decided that law-enforcement agencies would be asked to expedite actions against terrorists.

The chief minister said he was satisfied with the progress of work on the CPEC project.
